Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and TaskPin covering your use of the TaskPin Android app (com.gettaskpin.taskpin) and its backend service. By installing or using TaskPin, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

How we handle your data is covered separately, in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

1. What TaskPin is

TaskPin reads the tasks in your Google Tasks account, works out which ones are due, and pins them to an ongoing Android notification. You can complete and snooze tasks from that notification, and those changes are written back to Google Tasks.

TaskPin is a companion to Google Tasks, not a replacement for it, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google. Your tasks live in your Google account, and Google's own terms govern that account.

2. Your account and your responsibilities

You need a Google account and must grant TaskPin permission to access Google Tasks. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.
You must be 18 or older to use TaskPin.
You are responsible for the content of your tasks and for having the right to use it.
You agree not to misuse the service — no attempting to access other users' data, no probing or overloading the backend, no reverse engineering beyond what the law permits, and no using TaskPin to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights.
You may revoke TaskPin's access to your Google account at any time. Doing so will stop the app from working.

3. Your content stays yours

Your tasks are yours. We claim no ownership of them. You grant TaskPin only the permission technically required to operate the service — to read your tasks, evaluate which should be pinned, send them to your device as notifications, and write back the changes you make. Nothing more. That permission ends when you disconnect or delete your account.

4. Availability and changes

TaskPin is currently in testing and is provided free of charge. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, and we may impose limits on use, at any time and without notice. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where we can, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service.

TaskPin depends on services we do not control — Google Tasks, Google Cloud, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Android notification delivery, and your device's own battery and network behaviour. Push notifications can be delayed or dropped for reasons outside our control.

Do not rely on TaskPin alone for anything critical. It is a convenience layer over Google Tasks. If a notification absolutely must arrive — medication, a legal deadline, a flight — use a dedicated alarm as well.

5. Ending the agreement

You can stop using TaskPin at any time by disconnecting in the app, revoking access from your Google Account permissions page, or uninstalling the app. To erase the data we hold, follow Deleting your data in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, or if we are required to by law. Sections 6, 7, and 8 survive termination.

6. No warranty

TaskPin is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, that pins will always be correct or timely, or that defects will be corrected.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaskPin and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the app — including a missed task, a missed deadline, or a notification that did not arrive. Because TaskPin is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app (which is zero) or the minimum permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and we will tell you in the app before material changes take effect. Continuing to use TaskPin after a change means you accept the updated terms.
